Red Sox Second Baseman Dustin Pedroia makes hasty jump to recovery
The season may be over and the San Francisco Giants from the National League may be the World Series champions, but the year is far from over. For the teams in the American League, it is important to stay strong and capitalize on the opportunity to recruit
and muster up as much power before the start of the 2011 season.
Time is virtually finite but till spring training, there is hope, many injured players will recover and get back to basics.
The Boston Red Sox had a tough time back home when the regular league went into session. The team that had been on the top of the game during 2009 was losing out on focus. Due to problems in the hitting division and a lack of composure the shortage on the
offensive stride made it difficult for the team to make it to the wildcard berth in the post season.
However, good news is at the helm and Mike Cameron, along with Dustin Pedroia, is the source of it. Outfielder, Mike is slated to return to spring training after Thanksgiving. Dustin on the other hand, revealed on his radio show, ‘The Big Show’, that his
protective footwear came off three months before expected.
He’s working out in Arizona currently, and he recently said, “I'm good, man. Last week, I got a CT scan on my foot, and it's healing better than scheduled, so they took me out of the boot. I've been out of the boot for about, I don't know, a week now. So
I'm progressing, doing a lot more weight-bearing stuff, and I feel great, and I'm right on track to start my offseason workouts and be 100 percent for Spring Training”.
The 2008 American League Most Valuable Player, sustained the injury on June 25, when a foul tip gifted him with a broken left foot. The injury allowed him only to feature in 75 games during the season.
He shared his feelings on radio by saying, “It's just one swing and it just pretty much ended my season. It's tough to deal with. You're in the middle of a season, you're in the middle of a fight, and you're chasing the team in front of you, so it's tough
to sit down and watch the rest of the season. And it just didn't happen to me, it happened to a ton of our guys at the same time. So I think everyone is really excited to get out there and start playing”.
