  1. I don't take that as a slap in the face, quite frankly I found it funny. I wouldn't really mind if they traded him, but at the same time I wouldn't mind if he stayed. However, the one thing that really pissed me off was when he didn't run out an ground out. He could've broken up the (almost) no hitter.

Basically, I don't really know what to think. I'm hot and cold when it comes to Manny.

  2. I think they brought it on themselves. The management and the fans just put up with it. The "Manny being Manny" syndrome swept across The Nation. Could anyone actually NOT see this coming. I'm not surprised at all.

  3. Its not a slap in the fans' faces, its a slap at management if anything.

"Ramirez added. 'I love Boston fans'..."

People need to realize that this is between Manny and the front office and he isn't doing/saying anything towards the fans in Boston.

To Frizzer: The Indians didn't "do something about it." Manny was a free agent and signed with Boston because of the offer they gave him.

  4. What's worse than that sign was that he said "The Red Sox don't deserve a player like me."

What do they think of THAT?

  5. Manny just got really lazy. It looks like the only time he enjoys the game is when he hits a homerun or when he gets his paycheck.

  6. yes brett farve

  7. Funny that Manny mentioned Favre - their situations are somewhat similar in a strange way.

Boston isn't trying to get rid of Manny because he's a bad player, they want to get rid of him because he's expensive, older, and because a media circus follows him off the field wherever he goes.  Sounds kind of like Favre's story, doesn't it?

Say what you will about Manny and his borderline stupid behavior off the field, but the guy makes the Red Sox a better team on the field.  Period.  Boston trades Manny and they might as well just cancel the rest of their '08 season - they aren't going to make the playoffs or have a chance at another championship without Manny this year.  Sounds kind of like Favre's story again, doesn't it???

The best thing most major sports GMs could do is never turn on their TVs unless the game is on - that way the off the field soap-opera BS wouldn't be as likely to cloud their judgement on guys who otherwise obviously make their teams better IMO (like Favre or Manny).

  8. Manny has always put himself ahead of the team and even the game itself.  Management and the other players on the team can only take so much and I believe Manny has long since crossed the line of no return.  The Red Sox are right in the middle of a pennant race and they don't need, or deserve, the child like actions of Manny.  It is time for Red Sox management to step up and sever their ties with Manny for the good of the team.  Congratulations to the Indians who saw through Manny years ago and did something about it.

  9. i dont even know....i am still trying to figure out how this blew up so big...i dont recollect anyone in red sox org giving manny a hard time until he blew off the yankees game....and even then not that hard a time....seems like managment has put up with a lot from manny....its like he made up this whole thing in his head and is now trying to act like red sox are forcing him out....i dont get it...but i am pissed....we do need him in the line up but at this point he is becoming a major distraction.....sigh

  10. Just Trade him to the Yankees it will be the reverse of the Babe Curse. Just think 26 World titles before the Yankees win again. I would give him to the Yankees for Joba C.
