I'm a Sox fan & I really hope we get rid of Manny. I'm tired of his bullshit. Anyone agree ? If so, who do you think we should get in place of Manny ?

  1. no one, the red sox are dumbb. they cant win without manny

  2. LIsten Mannys antics are at times over the top, but the red sox need manny more than manny needs the sox. The two titles won by the red sox, who was the main component both comebacks, Manny Ramirez thats who. Other than Joe Carter walk off, and kirby pucketts catch in game 6, my most memorable moment in playoffs that i have seen are images of Manny Raising his arms after huge home run after huge home run. He is as clutch as jeter when it comes to playoffs. How do you fill that void. You dont. If you trade this man, hopefully he goes to the nl. I personally will miss Manny, and i dont think he'll look right in any other uniform, but i am a bandwagon kind of guy and i'm sure red sox nation, and all of new england knows more than me, but none the less hate to see him go.

  3. Im Tired of Manny's tactics as well. An 8 year marriage with Ramirez is just too long. Its time to dish him. His numbers aren't worth the troubles he brings. I think they should do one of two things:

    1) pay out the remainder on Manny's contract (about $7M) for this year and let him go play for whoever he wants.

    2) Do not pick up his option (at season's end) and seriously look into Matt Holliday during the offseason. He will be a free agent. He could play CF at the Fens. Ellsbury could move to left and Drew could just stay in RF. Or, some combination of that. It would be a sweet deal if the Sox got Matt Holliday.

I've heard rumors of the Redsox showing interest in Miguel Tejada too if Manny departs. Stay tuned. The circus has just opened it's doors.

  4. Why are you tired of Manny. His antics have been occurring since they signed him. If you think he hasn't had a positive impact on the team since he was signed, you might want to watch a different game. He's still one of the top hitters in the game and that's all that really matters. The Red Sox are contending this year and if they traded him at the deadline, they'd get nothing that would help them as much to win it all this year.

  5. I think it's time to part ways with him. His offensive output, while impressive, does not make up for his defensive woes and what he does to a clubhouse. He's supposedly not a good teammate and just causes trouble. Set him loose in a trade (if possible, since the deadline is so close) and get an already established player and maybe a prospect or two. Otherwise, set him free in the offseason and dive into the free agency pool and replace him.

  6. they would get a left fielder in return so he would play there

  7. I agree with you, I think his BS is seriously affecting the others in the clubhouse.  I was listening to WEEI and that's all the talk is about for the last few days.

I think it would be better for all around if the Sox find a way to unload (hesitate saying "dump") Manny in a decent trade.  I think everyone involved would breath a huge sigh of relief.

  8. This is funny.  The Red Sox arent trading Manny.  They have tried this a hundred times before.  What are you tired of?  Him htting 30 homers and knoking in 100 rbis a season?  While having more and more meaningful RBIs?  How about the way he makes pitchers pitch to Ortiz out of fear of Manny?  He is one of the best hitters over the past decade, and you are sick of him?  He has helped you to 2 WS rings, that is more than any of your other beloved Sox players has ever done.

I think the SOX fans are more ludicrous than Manny.

  9. Really? You're tired of WINNING??  As difficult as Manny can be at times the Sox need him.  There isn't anyone out there that could replace his bat, that's a fact.  I would almost guarantee that if Manny did leave you'd see Papi's bat go dead.  The Sox have until 4pm today to make a move.

    I got this from ESPN

The deadline to trade Manny Ramirez is essentially 4 p.m. ET Wednesday. As a 10-5 guy (10 years in the majors, five years with the same team), Ramirez has the right to veto any deal. If he waives a trade to a team, he must sign the paperwork 24 hours prior to the deal. So at the least, Ramirez will have to officially waive his no-trade rights to teams he would be willing to go to by 4 p.m. ET today.

It is possible Ramirez already has signed away his no-trade rights to certain teams, but it is unknown whether he has done so.
