Didn't you know? It's the Red Sox tradition to trade/or get rid of a great player. Started off with Babe Ruth, and they did it with Wade Boggs, Johnny Damon, etc. The list is loooong so no surprise Manny was the latest.

Because Manny wants to make his money and fly under the radar on a team that get little scrutiny from the media and fans. He figures hes already a hall of famer and hes at the end of his career and he doesn't want to put up with anything anymore... My opinion from a big Sox fan.

He wanted to be traded, he was a hassle, and for his age, Bay is better(i know a lot of ppl think thats dumb but he has more rbi's and hr's, and he is younger so its a good trade.)

it is because year after year we had to deal with his BS and our last series against the YANKEES he faked a knee injury and also phiscially assaulted one of the red sox workers he is very rud and i am glad they got rid of him he also said the red sox dont desserve me, he didnt desserve the red sox

lol he is declining? he already has more HR than last year. Bay is no Manny. Manny is super clutch in the playoffs and he is wanted in LA and apparently gets along with Management, which was the whole ordeal in Boston. You fans claim you hated him, but it will never be the same. Bay may be good, but he is NOT Manny!!! Manny is killing for LA right now. 8-13 2HR and he even legged out running from first to third on a single by Loney. Just goes to show you that Boston management was the problem, not Manny

Because he wanted to be traded and was causing problems in the organization. Not only with the front office but he caused problems in the club house as well.

Look its not like Manny got traded for a unknown player. Jason Bay is a very talented young player. I know he cant be as good as Manny was (at least at the plate) but he is very talented. He is definitely better with the glove and very good with the bat.
