  1. My dad's entire family is from the Boston area, so I've always been for the Red Sox :)

  2. Red Sox all the way

  3. I am a Red Sox fan and will always be. Most people are loyal to their home teams.

  4. The Red Sox right now are the better team but historically we are.

We have better fans. We're not racists and we dont get p**s drunk for lunch.

  5. Red Sox right now.

  6. All time: Yankees. Rings don't lie

Current: Red Sox. Look in the standings.

  7. current-red sox

  8. Hands down the Red Sox are a better team. The Yankees have been in a huge hole this entire year since they decided to bet their entire season on three young pitchers (Hughes, Kennedy, Chamberlain) and pass on Santana. There offense could be worse but many players have been inconsistent at best at the plate this year. Nady has dropper 20 points in his BA since joining the Yankees, Pudge 10 points, and Cano, Jeter,  and Giambi are all underachieving this year. With the exception of Damon and perhaps Abreu nobody on their team has exceeded expectations.

The Yankees have one of the worst defensive infields in baseball, and there outfield now with Damon or Gardner in center is not much better. There one strength is the men behind the plate, but Ivan and Jose can't make up for the other messes on the field.

Now that the Yankees have no Chamberlain in the bullpen they are counting on Jose Veras and Edwar Ramirez, who at one time looked reliable, but are now showing there true colors (blown saves all around).  Damaso Marte has been effective of late and provides not only a left handed specialist but a guy who if needed could pitch the eight inning. It helps that Bruney is back but Traber, and Robertson both stink. The starting rotation is not much better. We can all giggle and be in awe of Mike Mussina this year, but when it comes to pitching against better teams on the road Mussina is average at best. Pettite has been solid this whole year but you typically want more from a number two starter. Ponson has gotten considerably worse with nearly every start. His BABIP suggest a major hike in his ERA which is already at 4.80. Darrell Rasner would make an average number 5 starter but right now he's their number 4. Pavano has made a great story through his first two starts but I'm not alone in thinking that his dominance so far is a fluke.

The Red Sox are a very good defensive team. Varitek, Pedroia, Lowrie/Lugo, Ellsbury, and now Mark Kotsay are all above average defenders. Youkilis and Bay aren't as good but they also aren't holding the team back.

The offense here is excellent. Everyone seems to be contributing in some way with maybe the exception of Jason Varitek. Ortiz is Ortiz again, Bay while he is no Manny, has been excellent in Boston, Pedroia is a hitting machine, Lowrie has filled in nicely for an injured Julio Lugo, Kevin Youkilis could hit 30+ homers this year and is at the 100 RBI doorstep, Ellsbury who has dropped off considerably since his great start earlier this year is still doing a good job for a rookie campaign. Drew looked on his way to a 30 homer 100 rbi season this year before being hurt. Kotsay has filled his spot and is batting over .290 this year. You have the always reliable Alex Cora and Sean Casey on the bench along with Coco Crsp with Drew, Lowell, and possibly Lugo due back in time for the playoffs.

The pitching is a glaring weakness, but the signing of Paul Byrd helps the situation a bit. Lester and Matsuzaka have done better than we all thought, Beckett on the other hand has not, but is still better than anyone on the Yankees. Wakefield is a solid number four starter and all the red sox need to do is hold on until Beckett comes back. The bullpen was a major strength last year but is now the teams only weakness. Still the entire team has not been completely ineffective like a team such as the Mets. You still have a top 3 closer in Paperlbon and while Okajima has not been nearly as effective as last year he is still once again better than anyone the Yankees have. Delcarmen is not amazing but is still having a decent year while Javier Lopez and the now injured David Aardsma are doing a good job. Timlin has been shaky and Masterson has Matered his roll as a reliever adding the red sox with an effective bullpen arm. With the september call ups in our midst we will get to see if any young arms in the Red Sox organization can help them out down the stretch. There are some notables like Marcus McBeth and the ever so popular Clay Buchholz. Devern Hansack, Chris Smith and David Pauley are some others, though Smith and Pauley have struggled recently. Dan Kolb could also be an option, he has big league experience (if that matters to you).

The red sox are just a better team hands down. I'm surprised the Yankees have lasted this long with the team they've had. They are still very much in the race but don't expect any miracles this year. Besides the curse is over... remember. hahaha

  9. Red sox are better cause they are more fun.

The Yankees have a massive inferiority complex, that's why they made lopsided trades in the 50s with the KC A's and they spend sooo much more money than any other team... they can't stand to lose... but it looks like they won't make the playoffs this year.

  10. Well, see, I'm just looking at the standings, see, and I can tell you without a doubt the Red Sox are better. We'll have to wait and see if that is still true at season's end.

  11. Right now, the Sox. All-time, the Yankees.

  12. As much as I hate the Yankees.... gotta count the rings... that is all that matters!

  13. Do you mean who is better or who do we like more? I like the Red Sox more than the Yankees, but as for who is better it pretty much breaks down like this:

    1901-1918 Red Sox

    1919-1966 Yankees

    1967-1975 Red Sox

    1976-1983 Yankees

    1984-1993 Red Sox

    1994-2003 Yankees

    2004-Now Red Sox

Overall, with 26 championships, you have to say the Yankees have been the better team (have to give credit where it's due).

  14. Yankees have a better team but sox have a better record

  15. The New York Yankees always class above.

  16. I'd have to say that the Red Sox are doing a lot better this year. The Yankees are slumping quite a bit. I really can't wait till they don't make it into the playoffs this year. That will be great. They are currently 11.5 out of the AL East and 7 games out in the wild card.

  17. The Red Sox are ahead of the Yankees in the standings and are both behind Tampa.

Why are these the only two teams that ever get compared.

  18. Actually, right now, the Rays are better than both of them.

  19. san diego pardes fan for lifeeeee

  20. Just thinking outloud but if you say your a Red Sox fan just because their ahead your not a real Sox fan. So what happens if the Sox drops you'll turn into a Tampa Bay fan or a Yankee fan. I don't care what place the Yankees are in I am and always will be a Yankee fan even through the rough seasons.

  21. Well the Red Sox have the better record right now and it looks like Boston will be playing in October while the Yankees won't.  I think the Red Sox have been better since the beginning of the 21st century.
