Red Sox’s Dustin Pedroia back in action after injury, excited about comeback
Fort Myers, Florida, is a busy place at the moment as Major League Baseball teams from various parts of the country are sharing the venue for the Spring Training. Clubs such as the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees are preparing for the Major League
challenge.
The Red Sox look like the stronger contenders for the title this year in the American League East region given the new additions made to the side and with injured players making a return. One of those stars happens to be Dustin Pedroia who’s excited to star
on the hitter’s plate again.
The Red Sox have been conducting games between players and various dignified college and university teams from Boston. The team is planning to pack up things at the Player Development Complex and move into the City of Palms Park.
The move will provide returning players from the disabled list, a chance to prove their worth in the actual games’ format. Apart from Pedroia; Jacoby Ellsbury, Kevin Youkilis and Mike Cameron will be given a shot to compete on the grand stage.
“I'm excited,” said Pedroia. “My biggest thing is to get out there and just get in the flow of the game and make sure I'm healthy and feel good -- and just see pitches, just like any normal game, the first game I'm out there. Just see pitches, get used to
everything and that's it. I just can't wait. It's going to be fun.”
Pedroia suffered a fractured left foot last June for which he was treated for in September. The hitter was limited to just 73 games last season and made just two match appearances after the All – Star break on June 25th..
“I'm moving around good,” said Pedroia. “I feel good and I'm just excited to be out there. It's going to be fun. It's been a long time. I've put a lot of hard work in getting back and it should be fun.”
During the two games scheduled in the coming days, Pedroia will play a major part in the first game. He will reprise his role as the second baseman, while Youkillis will sit in the cleaning spot. Ellsbury will play centre and lead on nightcap while Cameron
will play as a designated hitter.
