Be honest, who stayed up to watch this thrilling game? My other question is, are the red wings in trouble after losing last night?

  1. Watched the whole thing, but am dragging this morning.

And I wouldn't say the Wings are in trouble, but Pitt definately has confidence now.

MAF has proven himself an elite goalie, and the team is going to feed off of that.  He stole that game singlehandedly.

They have the momentum from tying it with 30 seconds left and winning it in 3 OT...definately adrenalin-pumping things to build on.

Coming home for Game 6 and feeding off their fans is going to be infectious.

This series should go to 7 games, and it's totally up for grabs.

  2. i stayed up, i mean considering here in california it wasnt even 10 yet. i hope the penguins when games 6 & 7.

    go penguins =)

  3. I did.  I was at my parents house and was getting ready to leave when Talbot scored.  I really didn't want to miss the game but I had an hour drive home and it was getting late anyway...so I took off and listened to the first 2 OT's on the radio on the way home.  I got home and watched the 3rd OT there.  No way I could go to sleep...it was an exciting game.

As far as the wings being in trouble...we'll just have to wait and see...but I'm glad it has become a good series.

  4. i watched the whole thing.. i really hope the momentum the pens gained last night push it to a game seven.. they might be in trouble because it looked like the pens offense started to wake up give the few chances they had.. although it will be extremely hard to beat a team that good three times in a row..

  5. I did, I saw it from beginning to end.  Very nerve racking in overtime.  When the penalty in the third overtime happened I had a feeling the pens could capitalize but it was especially sweet that it was the sykora, malkin, and malone line that did it.  I think the red wings are.  Let's Go Pens!

  6. i did. i think the question should be, "who did NOT stay up?".

no, the wings are not in trouble. not anymore than the pens. theyboth played a great game. the wings have to only win 1. the pens, have to win 2.

both teams have won on the road. but the wings still have home ice advantage and can determine line matchups if it comes down to game 7.

both teams have a lot to be confident about. the wings have to finish. go 100%, not 99%. and the pens have to protect the puck better.

game 6 will be hard fought.

  7. i stayed up for the whole game and convinced my mom to let me stay home from school cause its the end of the year and no one is showing up. but anyway it was a great game. i thought the wings had but at the end when talbot scored i knew it was gonna be a long game. it was a great game it was so exciting. i can't believe sykora said that he was gonna score the winner and then actually did it. after he took that penalty i thought that he was gonna loose the game for the pen's. i am mad the wings lost though cause i want them to win but i am glad that i will have hockey for a little longer. i think the wings can come back next game they are an experienced, talented and driven team. i think that there experience will really help them. i thought that the wings played great last night and i think they can still win

  8. Stayed up till the end!

Probably only because I'm only a casual fan. All the die hards that I work with turned it off with a few minutes left when they showed the guy in the Wings locker room polishing off the Cup, lol. Well, one gal wanted to watch but her satellite went out. Man did she give the people at Dish an earful!

I was watching with my daughter and she didn't want to turn it off. This was one of the few times I've acually seen a team score after they pulled their goalie, lol. The OTs were pretty tense. Detroit is pretty d**n tough. Fortunately that Feury was at the top of his game!

But now, he's going to cost a fortune to resign, lol.

  9. I stayed up to watch it of course.  All I have to say is MAF played out of his freckin mind. I am in no way worried about the Wings considering the Pens have to win the next 2 games, but what worries me is the play of Fleury.  If he stands on his head all night like he did last night I would not be suprised to see the series go to 7 games.  The Wings need to get some practice in on the 6-5 situation.  They have looked pretty dreadful throughout the playoffs when the other team gets desperate.

Having said that, I am sadly predicting a Pens victory in game 6, barring a complete breakdown by MAF.  The momentum they are going to take into the game could be enormous and the Wings need to be ready to weather a huge incoming storm.  Pens win game 6 4-2. Detroit wins game 7 3-1.

PGH: Ya you guys were vastly ouplayed except in the crease.  If MAF didnt play like he did last night, you guys would have lost early in OT if the Wings hadnt pushed across 6 in regulation.  MAF played phenomenally.  It is going to take something really caffinated to wake up Malkin.  The guy has been sleepskating all series.

  10. I watched it till the END...............................

It was a good game, hope the wings have a better game next time tho~~

  11. I'm bloody tired this morning, so yes i stayed up. I rested my eyes between periods - took all i had to re-open them.

I think the Red Wings shouldnt easily dismiss the Penguins. The Wings need to fight harder because the Penguins arent going to back down.

  12. I stayed up, but here in California it was only 9:40 when it ended. I feel for you tired people today, way to support though!!

    I'm excited for tonight!!

  13. I watched the whole thing and am still waiting for the coffee to work.

It was thrilling, and epic, and all kinds of perfect except for one - the score!

I don't think the Wings are in actual trouble now - having lost a bit of focus in the dying seconds of regulation, they didn't meekly let this one go, it was hard fought to the end.  I'm sure they kicked themselves for letting it go to OT, so there's no need for me to criticise.

What's tough is sitting helplessly watching them make this so hard!  Hopefully they will focus as only the Wings can, in the next game.

    Go Wings.

  14. The question should be why did Malkin fall asleep before the fans?

  15. Real fan would stay up and watch it, so yeah i did :) i was worried for a minute that the people from the senior center, i mean the redwings, were going to score. But the game was getting late, and i know how the old people can't stay up that late because they are used to going to bed at 8. so redwings finally buckled...more to come :)

  16. I stayed up.  Got four hours of sleep (yawn).  I WILL be taking a nap when the toddler does!  I don't think the Wings are in trouble.  They are a great team.  They WILL adjust.  Ozzie will be back to form.

  17. No and No

  18. I have to admit I was in and out of consciousness during the 3OT but I did stay up! Luckily I have no boss today...I think a nap at my desk is in order!

If the Pens go into game 6 with the same passion we saw last night, you better believe they are going to give the Redwings a run for their money.

  19. I think they're in trouble. We figured out how to beat them in Detroit. I tried so hard to stay up but I DVR'd it and watched the rest this morning. Awesome game by both teams.

  20. I stayed up and I am feeling the effects of it today. Are the wings in trouble----only if the Pens can come out charged up the next game. The crowd should help.

  21. To your first question, I tried and I was pumped up but I had an early and long day at work yesterday so I was too weak. I tried my best but couldn't fight nature. I only made it through half of the second OT.

And to your second question, not until the Penguins win two more games. I just don't see the Wings blowing it like that. Penguins will put up a good fight but I think Detroit will pull it out.

  22. I stayed up for the whole game. I think the Pens are definitely bringing the heat and the Wings better watch themselves

  23. They're still playing? I knew I shouldn't have listened to all those Wings fans that said sweep or in 5.The sound of the Detroit fans booing was a beautiful symphony to my ears!!! 58 shots on goal won't do it--I think we're in their heads now and they know we won't lay down and hand it to them. If Malkin wakes up in gm. 6 the Wings will have their hands full.

  24. I am lucky enough to live in Arizona. Game ended at 10 pm here.  That was one of the best games in a long while.

  25. Im a Penguins fan, so I obviously stayed up.

Who didn't? It was such an amazing game.

If the Penguins could keep up the momentum, I believe so.

  26. Stayed up for the whole thing and got up at 5:30am to be at work at 7.  Feel like c**p, but totally worth it.  I love the Pens but I still feel the pressure is on them, especially after losing to the Wings at home in game 4.  The Pens did show that they can generate as much offense as the wings which really didnt happen the first 4 games.  I think they showed that the Zet, Dat, Holm line can't completly shut the down when they are on their game.  Game 6 is gonna be great but jhopefully the Pens keep the momentum from last night.

  27. h**l yea I stayed up...that was an awesome game even though my team lost :(  They played a great game...out-shot the Pens and as usual Ozzie was amazing. Juri Hudler I am sure is feeling like c**p today though after his high sticking penalty...which I figured right when they called it that they had just lost the game. But I have to give props to the Pens...well to at least Fleury, I think without him they wouldn't even be in the playoffs...he also did an amazing job last night too.

It sure would have been great having the Wings win on home ice with all the fans to cheer them on but I guess it just wasn't in the plans. I don't think the Wings are in trouble at all because they lost..they clearly are a much better team...even after 3 OT periods the Red Wings still had more left in them than the Pens did...it was obvious...and we have more "older" players on our team...I thought they just were amazing after playing that long of a game and am d**n proud to be a Wing fan.!! They will win the Cup no fear.....if for some reason it is not Wednesday in Pittsburgh, they will do it back at the Joe..

    Go Wings!!

  28. I stayed up for the entire thing, but I can't really say I remember the 3rd OT much because by then I was exhausted. I remember Hudler getting a stupid 4 minute penalty and then the Wings lost. The game was one wild ride, though. I thought for sure the Wings were going to pull it off so we could have a giant celebration in Detroit, but I guess we'll be winning in Pittsburgh. :(
