  1. This is going 7. Go Wings

  2. Of course the Red wings can keep up with them lol. its not like the red wings are all a bunch of old farts. most of their best players are under 30. zetterburg, datsyuk, kronwall, Filppula, Hudler. Its going to be a awesome series.. 2 great teams duking int out... i say WINGS in 6

  3. This is coming from a life long wings fan... (grew up 37 miles north of Detroit )

I've watched the wing turn up the heat in a single period, score goals short handed almost every game, and come back in the least probable situations.

But, when it comes to closing out a series, or finishing a game, they tend to choke. It's gonna be a fun series to watch. Wings don't depend on a single player, they are a powerhouse. The Euro-twins, Franzen, Lidstrom, Rafalski, and  Holmstrom are all very talented athletes.

I can't wait to see what kind of a challenge Pens are gonna be . They are a good team; the Wing's and their fans can't look past that.

  4. Nobody thought the Ducks could keep up with Heatley, Spezza, and Alfredsson and look what happened.

Lots of talk about Crosby and Malkin, but the best overall player going into this series plays for Detroit, and Lidstrom will be the difference in this series. They won't completely contain the Penguins top guns, but they will limit their effectiveness by keeping the puck away from them. Pittsburgh has not seen a puck possession team in the same league as the Red Wings all season - I think they're going to have trouble with it.

As far as the matchups... well the Red Wings are just about as deep as the Penguins up front, have better goaltending, and outmatch them on the blueline, in the locker (experience) and behind the bench. Throw in home ice advantage and Detroit looks to be the favorite by a few steps.

  5. I've got Pens in 5!!!!

Yes I do agree that the Wings have a lot of experience, but the youth will prevail in this exciting match up.

  6. They cannot keep up with Malkin/Staal/Crosby in terms of commercials and media articles but they will definitly beat them in actual games

It's just going to be another round of let Osgood stop 15 shots while we take 40

  7. I will agree with the Pens in 6 because i really think that the Pens have a better team than Detroit does

  8. Pens are gonna hit a wall when they go up against the best defense in the league.  And all Detroit will do is keep the puck in Pitts zone and light up Fleury.

  9. I say the opposite. Wings in 6.

  10. The wings experience can beat any youngn and I'm thinkin wings in 6 (if not 5).

  11. okay if you are going with one line I would take Holmstrom Dasyuk Zetterberg

and staal . . . lol gimme a break . . . i could look good with those two on the ice

    it should be a good series;

i think they have similar scoring, but detroit has a better defense for my money

i think the team that gets scoring outside the second line will win.

  12. there are going to be quite a few devastated hockey fans in detroit after game 4.

  13. Red Wings are experienced to beat EVERY team.Raflaski knows how the Pens play coming that he faced against them for awhile.

    Red Wings in 6

  14. i want the Penguins which is not too cool because my parents want the wings so it is a 2 on 1 battle at my house.

  15. The Wings kept up with the young stars of the Avalanche, (Statsny, Wolski in what he played in game 1), Liles...well sorta Liles...

I think it will be a well-played series.

As for a prediction: I will not jynx anything... plus mine were way off... I picked Pittsburgh going out in the first round and the Devils in the Stanley Cup Finals saying they were gonna beat the Capitals in the Conference Finals...

  16. Well first off, the Wings aren't old. They are at the perfect age. They are old enough to have a good amount of playoff experience, but young enough to keep up with the kids. With the exception of Lidstrom, all of the top performers on the team are under 30, and Lidstrom is playing as well as he did when he was under 30.

As for the Malkin-Crosby 1-2 punch, I think they match up with the Zetterberg-Datsyuk 1-2 punch perfectly. While Malkin and Crosby use more power to set up plays and score goals, Zetterberg and Datsyuk use their stick handling abilities and communication. Also, Zetterberg and Datsyuk are just as responsible defensively as they are offensively, as they are both Selke finalists.

It should be a very even series. I can't even make a prediction. This is probably the most evenly matched Stanley Cup Finals I have ever seen,
