Question:

Red Wings vs. Dallas Stars game last night???

In my opinion, refs did a horrible job last night. Datsyuk's disallowed goal was complete garbage. Holmstrom was clearly out of the crease and never touched the goalie. I also disagree that Stars outplayed the wings. Stars took more penalties, and had less shots on net (22-34). The only thing I can say is that Turco outplayed Osgood.

What do you guys think?

  1. Yes the disallowed goal was c**p.  Turco finally showed up for every shot except the softy he gave up to Zetterberg though.  I am willing to be the rule about the crease interference being unreviewable will be changed in the offseason. Correct me if I am wrong but didn't an opposite call cost the Sabres the cup against the Stars a few year back? The play is just to close to call from the ice so I wouldn't doubt the war room will get involved form now on.

Red Wings win in game 5. Turco can not win in Detroit and no way will the Wings come out looking sluggish again. BTW, the question right under yours says the exact same stuff :P

  2. The ref's had a huge hand in the gift for the Stars.  At least the last game in AA Center was a win for the home team.  Yoo-freakin-hoo.  I think Detroit let Dallas win so the could wrap up the series in front of their fans.

I will say this, they did look really bad last night.  They did not deserve to win going 0-fer on the man advantage.  Lindstrom will get the guys ready for Saturday and Christ-All-Marty will go to 3-14-5 vs the Wings.

I BELIEVE STARS FANS (that the Stars will be playing next week, on a course in Valley Ranch)!!!!!

One shot, one shift, one ticket to the off season!!!

  3. its a good thing dallas won last night, we can't have detroit going into the finals with a 10 game winning streak

  4. Not only the disallowed goal but the goal that Turco did not have possession of and just sat on it as it went in the net, they straight up called that a non-goal w/ no review.

HOWEVER, Dallas deserved the win.  Wings will win it in 5

  5. I agree.. the refs had a bad time last night.... HOWEVER, I think Holmstrom's walks a fine line playing on the crease and he certainly interfered with Turco in Game 1 that resulted in a goal... the goal last night was disallowed and that was a crime to the Wings but the goal sticking in game 1 was a crime to the Stars... Holmstrom caused his own luck (good and bad) both times by playing so on the edge all the time in that area on the ice.

The other thing is that the Stars were forced on a 5-3 in Game 1 over nothing... the penalty to Fistric was a horrible call and caused a goal and put the Stars on their backs.

The Wings are a better team (looks that way, anyway) and people complaining about the bad calls against the better team are totally ignoring that this bad officiating is a two-way street.

The Stars did outplay Detroit... they marginally protected the puck more but they had better positioning all night.  Osgood was the best player for the Wings Wednesday.  The Wings outshot the Stars but the Stars had much better scoring chances of scoring from the first.  The Stars power play looked better and their penalty play looked better... Osgood just stopped them until the 3rd period.

The Wings did not lose because of the refs anymore than the refs caused the Stars to lose in game 1.  On those  nights the better playing teams won.   Give credit where its due.

  6. First this is the best game Dallas has played in this series.

I for one believe the Shots on goal is such a bogus stat...I would like to know how many Shots were taken...this would give us a better picture, still incomplete but better as to how the teams did.

The Stars had more pressure, more possession and more opportunities than in the first three games.

The Stars also actually slowed the Red Wing attack down and managed to steal the puck on occassion.

The Stars also improved in the face-offs!!!

All in all this extra-work produced a victory for Dallas.

As for the No-Goal...that call was ever bit as accurate as the 3rd goal of the 1st game and I will leave my comments  on officiating at that.

I am looking forward to the Saturday Game 5!!!

One Shift, One Period, One game at a time...Go Stars!!!

  7. I don't think there's much point in rehashing.  I guess Homer's butt needs to go on a diet.  There were, however, TWO disallowed Datsuyk goals last night, although I can understand the second.  It's Ozzie's first loss in something like 9 1/2 games.  I think he is holding his own.

Oh, well.  Detroit in 5 instead of 4.

  8. Yeah it was lousy....anywhooooooo...we will finish up in Detroit on Saturday.

  9. i couldn't believe at the end when one stars guy was sitting on top of a red wings guy (i forgot the names).  i mean i know it was the end of the game and it didn't really matter but i thought it was crazy that the ref didn't even move in to break anything up until the horn went.
