Red and green parrot finches-breeding????

i have a pair of parrot finches.about a month ago they built an nest in the avairy which took then about 2 weeks to complete.since then for the last 2 weeks they have never been near the nest.i was just wondering if this is usual i thought they would be sitting on eggs now,maybe it the wrong time for them to breed but i am in the sub tropics thank you

  1. You need to buy a book on parrot finches. Then read the whole book. Some birds go through the motions of breeding and nesting but never lay the eggs. The conditions have to be perfect for them to lay.


  2. Delight-full little birds but they can be stubborn breeder!

    They need a good varied diet of seeds and a little fruit,

    try soaking some of their seed in warm water .

    Take a small quantity of seed soak it in warm water over-night ,drain, rinse place some-where warm till it sprouts and feed it to them.

    Make sure the have Cuttle-bone.

    They also require small insects to help bring them into breeding condition,(that is why they have given up)
