Red dot and beep

Question

Ih have recently restarted my computer after not using it for a month along with my Beyond Micro 120GB Mbile Disk USB 2.0. My computer is fine but when I turn on the external harddrive, there is a beeping noise coming out from it and a red dot flashes about every second. It does not show up on my computer and even when I disconnect it from the computer it still has the red flashing dot and makes the beeping noises. Please help.
