Red eye for the past 4 days?

Ok, I wear contacts on an everyday basis........until this red eye occured. It's red on the outer corner of my right eye and it's been like that for the past 4 days. I've also gone 4 days without my contacts, which are prescription. It feels like its bruised. My eye doctor told me when I got my eyes checked last year that I have bad dry eye but just to use eye drops. Anyways, I just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions before I go to the doctor. Also, there isn't any kind of drainage in my eye or itching, it's just red.

have someone (optometrist) look at it.  if it doesnt go away even tho you stopped wearing contacts, that makes a case for it probably not being CL-related, at least not directly.

sounds to me like a possible inflamed pinguecula or "pingueculitis":

if so, it would likely need Rx anti-inflammatory meds to fix it

When I was younger, my eyes were very red and felt dry. I didn't bother with going to the doctor until it felt like something was clawing it's way out. When I got there, I was told I had an eye infection that could have blinded me permanently. Go to the doctor and get it looked at - just in case.

Wash ur eyes with cold water thrice a day...............this is helpful....it helps to keep eyes clean...

do you use tear replacements? maybe it's an allergic reaction to something?
