Red eyed tree frog skin damage?

my red eyed tree has some sort of skin damage. it looks like a large white blotch folowed by grey lines. i think he got scratched against the peice of driftwood. WHAT IS IT AND WHAT SHOULD I DO.

  1. Betadine (povidone iodine) is toxic to amphibians. You can use it but it must be diluted with water to a ratio of 1 part betadine to 100 parts water. Hydrogen peroxide is also not suitable for frogs. You can also dab the area with a topical antibiotic ointment such as Polysporin.


  2. Hiya !

    If it IS just a scratch - dabbing the area a solution of betadine will keep germs and infection at bay so it will heal.

    HOWEVER - If you're REALLY worried - take him to a vet who specialises in reptile care.
