hi, i previously asked about red green colour defect, im working for a company as an electrician and have this defect, i have no problem with colours, even the most tiny cables, were it no for the book with the numbers, i would have no idea i had a problem,

my company want me to go for an offshore medical, which im happy about, but will this affect my chances of getting an offshore job?

on the list for the medical, it says there is a basic eye test, but some guys who have been said that they were shown the book with the numbers (which i know i cant do),

please help, im worried this will close a door in my career path

  1. Why worry?  If hte test is necessary then do it, if you fail then you are not fit to do the job.

H&S is a pain but is in place for a reason, not just your own safety but that of others you could affect.

Colourblind people have a bit of trouble with gree.red, I know a Corgi registered gas worker who is colourblind and it has been declared so it wont affect every job out there.

  2. Unfortunately, this book of coloured dot's with numbers in (the ishihara test), is the colour blindness test that you will need to pass,  failing will mean you will not be able to go offshore.

  3. i don't know.

but if they give you the color vision test, explain that you can tell red from green in the real world, ask them to let you prove that to them.
