Question:

Red light directly in face? ?

I have a little light on my desk that has a sorta red platic cover around it, thus making the light red. I use it at night if I am reading/writing. It is moderately bright so not too bright it hurts/strains my eyes and not too dim I have to strain to see and as I said, it is pretty much right next to my head.

Will it have any negative effects on my eye sight or eyes in general ? Any other negative effects someone can think of?

Thanks.

  1. i think so. change the colour to a bright yellow. i don't think it would hurt much.

  2. Depends on your eye health.

IF it strains your eye, of course it's bad for you.

    Use common sense.

  3. Red is the color of immediate pencils.  Such a color could cause instant fusion of the retinas, creating pain of the eye for 1/1,634,000,0000 of a second.

Then, you would die.  So yes, red is a bad color for antelope.  If you are a freaking idiot, however, red light will not hurt you, so you, therefore, are safe...

  4. Just make sure to turn it off when you go to sleep.  Light of any kind in your room while you sleep is not good.

  5. i would guess it might have a subtle agitating or stimulating effect

  6. There aren't any side effects. You've posted in this section so I guess your wondering about 'red light attracts ghost' angles. There's hardly any evidence of ghosts and none at all involving red light.

If you're in the UK don't be surprised if middle-aged men come knocking. A red light has a whole different meaning over here lol
