Question:

Red rice questions?

by  |  earlier

I think this type of rice is from Bhutan (not the New Orleans red rice dishes).

Has anyone made this type of rice? Is it similar to other rices?

Does it take longer to cook? What does it taste like? Where can I buy this rice?

Most importantly, any good recipes?

Thank you!

  2. I've cooked it a few times.  It's stickier than white rice and it tastes a little nutty.  I got it at SuperTarget.

  3. I haven't made it but it sounds interesting.

Since it is a variety of Japonica rice, I think these recipes would be appropriate.

But I think you can adapt any recipe intended for brown short grained rice.
