I have gotten a 2007 model in November. And I thought those have falcon chips in it that make it so you can't get the red rings of death is that true? Also when you get your 360 fixed at microsoft do they send you a brand spaken new one right off the shelf or do they give you old ones from other people? Also what is the percent of failure with the new falcon Chip?

  1. The Xbox 360 red ring of death can caused by a number of different problems. Overheating is just the best known cause. If Microsoft fixed the Xbox 360 so that it didn't display the red ring of death, the console still won't work, it just wouldn't display an error code.

Some people get new machines, other people get repaired machines. In the interest of getting their customer's  machines back in a timely manner, Microsoft appears to send out new machines, when their repair facilities can't keep up with demand. To my knowledge, Microsoft doesn't promise you a new machine, just a machine that's not suffering the red ring of death problems.

Microsoft doesn't release the figures of what percentage of Xbox 360s have failed from malfunctions.
