Red spot under tongue of baby?

Question

My five month old baby has a dark red spot that looks like blood under his tongue but when I touch it no blood appears on my finger, doesn't seem to bother him but I just noticed it today what could this be?

I have just noticed the same thing on my daughter tongue too, she is also five months old and it doesn't seem to bother her either. I thought it may be a blood blister but not sure though.
