Red wine with fish, white wine with meats?

do you really bilieve people care lot to paire food and wine ?

  1. Yes I think it matters, I'm not a wine snob but I think a really nice Zinfandel makes my steak taste a lot better:-) As does a light white with foul

    Just experiment with a few and you will see...


  2. its actually the opposite...white wine w/ fish and red wine with meat.  the wines just help bring out the flavor of the food you're eating!

  3. There are two hard and fast rules to stick to concerning wine selection: 1) If you can't taste the difference, don't pay for the difference. 2) Drink what *you* enjoy. Keep your mind open, there's always someone more experienced so it helps to listen to what they have to say, but make your own decisions. All the sayings that you hear regarding wining and dining are restrictive stereotypes, and can blind as well as guide.

    To sum up, experiment for yourself and see what you like.  

  4. Rich s****. people that are obsessed with etiquette probably do. I personally couldn't care any less. Wine is good. Who cares what kind? I'll drink them all!

  5. actually In a resturant I worked at they were teaching us pairing wines with food is not always the norm anymore.  

    Why would you drink a white wine for dinner purposes if you normally drink red wine.  Why would you suffer through the taste of a wine you are not happy with when you can just drink your favorite wine and you will still enjoy your dinner

  6. Some people do. I am an avid red wine drinker. I do not care what I am having for dinner I like a wine that I enjoy.  After 35 years of only reds I just recently started enjoying some whites. As with the reds I drink what I am in the mood for at the time. e.g. tonight my wife served one of her special BBQ spare rib meals.  I was in the mood for a nice dry Riesling and it went better than any red the so-called "experts" would have suggested. Unless your ego is effected and you want to show off your expertise, drink what you like.

  7. The reason certain wines go with certain things is because they compliment the flavor. A dark red wine will over power the light taste of chicken or fish. Red wine also has enzymes that help digest meat.
