Red wings post season thoughts?

What announcements have happened with new kids, people retiring...I have been gone and coulden't watch anything on whats going on with players?

There are so many possibilities...I wouldn't be suprised if Drake retires but after just winning his first cup, will he want to shoot for a second?  And since I don't think Downey is the kind of player Detroit really wants, why not bring Drake back for another year

McCarty is just getting straightened out and I think it's good for him to be around the Wings if for no other reason than to help him keep straight.  

I'm not sure Chelios ever wants to retire and I don't think the Wings will say No if he wants to return.

With Matt Ellis gone, No big loss anyway, I think the wings just might give a shot to Justin Abdelkader on the 4th line.  He sure looked sharp in the 2 brief appearences he had at the end of the season and the Wings did sign him to a 3 year deal.

On Hasek, he has had a fine career and while he still may be among the better netminders in the league, I'd rather see Jimmy Howard get the nod next year and let him show us what he can do.

I'd love to retain Cheli in a coaching/mentor position.

I'd like Hasek gone.  It's Jimmy H's turn.

I want McCarty and Drake back, and I wish they'd keep Downey, but I highly doubt it.

i personally would like to see drake come back he gave our team the toughness we were missing, mccarty was good for this year but who knows how he will hold up for a whole yr and hasek SHOULD retire and let jimmy howard start his career

I heard that Chelios wants to stay on but not as a starter instead help the new guys and just for the love of the game.

According to the Free Press Hasek's going to decide in the next few days whether to retire - he's not likely going to want to play next year as a backup, nor is it likely he'll find a different team who'd pick him up as a starter.

I heard speculation somewhere, McCarty might decide to retire. I can't validate that, and can't give it a whole lot of merit either. He's getting his life back on track, and I'd think he'd maybe like to play at least a whole year before making that choice.

they said during the parade that Drake was more than likely going to retire, chelios was gonna be back, and downey was prolly going to be gone
