if hes the fourth starter then its a very good move for the red sox. buchholz has struggled all season long and byrd will get runs to work with since he will have one of the top offenses in the bigs to work with (and he will make his runs stand unlike buchholz).

Good pickup. Nothing special but a solid mid to rear rotation guy. Can give you 3-5 wins which is very important in the AL East. Guys a veteran so he'll bring a presence to a young team and I can see him doing ok with the Soxs.
