Question:

Reddish Printer Ink on USPS Prepaid Postage?

Gahhhhhhhhhhhhh...so I'm trying to print this prepaid USPS postage because someone just bought something from me on Ebay and I found out I ran out of printer ink and it's only printing in red. But I don't want to get new ink because this printer won't be used anymore after this. So is reddish ink instead of the standard black okay on those Postage Paid shipping labels you can print on Paypal and USPS? Thanks =)

  1. Does the label include the postage either in the clear or coded to show just the weight and class of mail, or is it just an address label?

If it is JUST an address label with no indication of postage, is it dark red and easy to read?  Or is it a faded pinkish red and hard to read?  If it is dark red and easy to read, you should be okay.  If it's hard to read, you're going to have to redo it with another printer or a new cartridge in the old one.

If it includes the postage, you might try photocopying it to see if you can make it dark enough to use.  If you do that, be sure to destroy the original label because you will get into trouble if you use the original label.  They ARE coded in a way that will tell the post office if it's a reused label.

Otherwise, you're going to need to reprint the label using another printer, and file for a postage refund on the original label.

  2. No, it's not ok. The optometric scanner will not pick it up and it's set for a machine to read. Sorry, wish I had better news.

  3. It's not okay, BUT they aren't going to send it back. The carrier will have to manually enter it. Sucks for him.
