Redecorating a room for a GUY!!?

My friend is dating a guy I was friends with in high school. I spent some time with them yesterday and came to the realization that this guy is completely different, his life has kind of gone down the drain, and he really needs a friend, or two, or three.

Anyway, after seeing his room >:O, that he was totallyembarrassedd of because it is dark (he uses TOWELS as curtains), dirty, no bedsheets, and awful obscene writing/holes (from friends??) all over his walls, I decided that I want to team together with his girlfriend and redecorate it. I feel like if he has a comfortable home place, he might get on the road to feeling a little better about himself.

There is a time limit, as this is a suprise for the guy. There's no real budget, but I'm definitely looking for bargains. Think of it as a kind of "While you were out" type of thing.

The guy likes punk rock and old school hardcore. Music is definitely his thing. I want to incorporate that, but nothing outrageous like black lights or graffitied walls as I want it to be COMFORTABLE and with lots of light.

I need advice on where to go, wall colors, bedspread colors, accessories, I'm no good at decorating for masculinity, as my boyfriend goes with whatever I want!! HAHA!! Thank you :)!!

Aw that is such a lovely idea!

You sound like a really considerate person :) You should be proud, more people in life need to be like you.

You could paint the room a light grey colour with maybe a blue feature wall, or the other way round.

Then to add colour you could use red accessories.

or you could paint 2 or 3 of  the walls a creamy colour and the rest either blue or grey, and then get silver, blue and grey accesories.

Get lots of cushion to make it feel more comfortable, frame his favourite posters and add pictures of his favourite memories to remind him how good his life used to be.
