  1. Take her with you to look at paint colors or show her ideas you like from a book or magazine. Ask her if you could use material instead to ease her into the transition of using paint. Material can be easily removed - but, then again, paint can be repainted easily, too. Good luck. LT

  2. Figure out what your mom's objections are, and then overcome them. If she thinks you'll make a mess becuase you don't know enough about painting, go to the paint store and get them to tell you about how to do the job and how to keep the place from getting spattered -- and then come back and tell her exactly what you would do. Or maybe you can do the painting WITH your dad and learn.

If she doesn't like the color you're choosing, paint some of it on a big sheet of cardboard so she can see how great it will look.

  3. Is she giving any reasons?  Are you capable of doing it yourself, and having it come out good.

I'll assume yes.  If there is another room/area she would like to see get painted, offer to paint that too.

Or maybe she'd like to see a certain room/area get cleaned and organized.

    Good Luck,

  4. Ask Mom why she does not want you to paint the room.  Is it possible you have started projects in the past and not completed them.  Painting a room is not easy.  There is removing all the furniture, repairing the walls, sanding them.  Moms are usually much wiser when it comes to knowing what their children are able to accomplish.

  5. Wash the dishes and do the floors and a couple loads of laundry...........good luck

  6. accidently ruin the decor now so that repair is not possible, spill pepsi up the wall but wait for it to dry before you try to soak it up.  it'll never budge!  that you can redecorate.  or the less snicky way : go the local local DIY/hardware store and ask your mom which colours/decors she likes from the sample charts and then both agree on one!   it worked for me! (i've got a star wars theme and i'm 35 yrs old)
