Redecorating teen room?

Question

I asked my mom if I could redecorate my room, and she said I could. But se told me I couldn't paint the walls. Only wallpaper could go over the walls. In my room the like, a lump at the bottom of it and i'm not sure if wallpaper could go over it without it looking not right. Here's a example of it.

Also, any ideas that I could do without buying many things.

If this matters--My bed sheets are blue striped and my pillows are colorful. I'm thinking of getting new curtains, a rug, and a conopy, while I am repainting my desk too. What colors and Ideas could match?

The lump you are talking about is the baseboard, and you're not going to want to cover that, but perhaps paint it in some contrasting color. Since you seem to like things bright, maybe some neons or some sportslike things would be a good bet.

A few ideas you could try on the cheap..  bed sheets are a LOt less costly than curtains.. buy some flat sheets and either stitch at the top for the rod pocket or open the  top seam  at each end.. stitch a little and  add the rod to that.

There are a ton more colors and patterns of sheets than their are curtains and you can match your bed sheets if you can find those again, with your curtains and use a contrasting inexpensive comforter to set it all off..  add a few toss pillows.

Rugs, the brighter the better.. pinks, apple green or a bright blue would go great..   if you want something a bit out of the ordinary.. try taking a piece of  wood , scrap will do,  painting it a bright color and s******g a few brass or bright colored hooks to it to hang things like backpacks,  necklaces, etc from .

You can easily make a no sew afghan or small comforter out of some fleece to cover the bed,  if you want something new or get a few  bright colored pillow covers that way too.

you're limited really only by your imagination..  

Wallpapers are so unique now that you can find nearly any color int he world and prints range from the sedate to the outrageous.
