Question:

Redeem cash for leftover money on MetroCard?

There is no way to use all the money on my MetroCards, since $11 is not a multiple of $1.50. I have a bunch of cards with $1 left that are completely useless. Is there any way to redeem money for these cards?

  1. try ebay

  2. No, but you can have them all put on one card, or add money to even it out.

  3. Multiple of $1.50???  Since the NYC Subway/Bus Fare is $2.00 why would you have $11 on a card?

If you put $10 on a card you will have a total value of $12.00 which is good for 6 uses (not including transfers) and there will be no value left over.

I wonder, is it possible you use the PATH system where the fare is $1.50 as well as the NYC Subway?  And use the same MetroCard?  Then you could have the issue of money left over.

But as was posted by lyzerybl you can have all the values of the card combined into one.  Just go to any manned subway booth (formerly called token booths) and ask the Station Agent (fornerly called token booth clerks) to combine them onto one card for you.
