Redeemed back to his Aqueduct division after coming out good from the Oklahoma Derby
After taking the $400,000 Oklahoma Derby over Grade 2 winners Alternation and Prayer for Relief, the 3-year-old Anthony Dutrow trained colt, Redeemed came out of the race in good order and will fly back to his Aqueduct division.
Redeemed is owned by Jay Em Ess Stables, and races for Mace Siegel and his daughter, Samantha Siegel. Anthony Dutrow said that the future plans for the colt haven’t been decided and yet, and for that to happen he will have to talk to the owners.
“I haven’t talked to Samantha and her dad about plans,” Dutrow said Monday morning. “We’ll get the horse back to New York and get together.”
The son of Include, out of Early Mass by Pleasant Tap, Redeemed won at two turns for the first time in her career, when he won the Oklahoma Derby, he wore blinkers for the first time as well in the derby and it was his second start in a route.
Redeemed made his two turn debut in the $300,00 Smarty Jones Stakes at about 1 miles and 70 yards at Parx Racing on 5 September, 2011, where he finished second and got beaten by Wilburn who topped the distance in 1 minute and 40.89 seconds.
Prior to the Smarty Jones Stakes, Redeemed finished second in the Grade 2 Amsterdam Stakes, over at six and a half furlongs under jockey E Prado at Saratoga on 1 August, 2011, where Caleb’s Posse was his tormentor who finished the six and a half furlong
dash in 1 minute and 15.88 seconds.
Redeemed has won 3 races out of 6 starts so far, with 2 second place finishes and a lone third which came in his first attempt at maiden special weight last year.
In the Oklahoma Derby, Redeemed settled about three lengths off the pace in the early stages of the derby.
Redeemed foraged his way through a wall of horses on the final turn as angled out in the stretch, and closed strongly to overtake Alternation by a head, the winner covered the 1 1/8 mile distance in 1 minute and 49.20 seconds.
