Redeemed looking good in the Grade 2 New Orleans Handicap
The 4-year-old colt, Redeemed, was last seen in action on 11 February, 2012,in the Grade 1 Donn Handicap, where he finished third to winner Hymn Book, and now according to trainer Richard Dutrow Jr. the colt is ready to make his second start of the season
in the Grade 2 New Orleans Handicap.
Jay Em Ess Stable owned Redeemed, is going for a much tougher race with the likes of the Donn Handicap runner up, Mission Impazible, in the mix, with the Kelly Breen trained Grade 3 Pegasus Stakes winner Pants on Fire looking good after his 2012 debut win
in a mile Gulfstream Park allowance/optional claimer.
Zayat Stables owned and Steven Asmussen trained, Nehro, who also made a successful return to the races in allowance/optional claimer at Fair Grounds Race Course in his 2012 seasonal debut will be going for the Grade 2 New Orleans Handicap.
The Kentucky bred son of Mineshaft, out of mare The Administrator by Afleet, finished second in the Grade 2 Louisiana Derby to Pants on Fire, second to Animal Kingdom in the Grade 1 Kentucky Derby, and yet again second to Archarcharch in the Grade 1 Arkansas
Derby, and then a troubled 4th to Ruler on Ice in the Grade 1 Belmont Stakes.
The Virginia bred son of Include, out of mare Early Mass by Pleasant Tap, Redeemed closed out his 2-year-old career with two back to back wins. Going at 1 1/8 miles in the Oklahoma Derby, Redeemed defeated the toughest lineup he faced to date, when he downed
Alternation in second and Prayer for Relief in third.
He immediately then downed the Grade 2 Discovery Handicap at Aqueduct to cap off his sophomore season, but in his 2012 debut he couldn’t kick it being in a very good position, being just a length off the leaders, but Hymn Book and Mission Impazible did and
Redeemed had to be content with the third place finish 3 ¼ lengths adrift of the winner.
Redeemed turned his latest work of six furlongs in 1 minute and 14.53 seconds, which summed up as his fourth work since the Donn Handicap.
