Tottenham Hotspur’s manager, Harry Redknapp feels that his star players won’t leave the club, even if the team fails to qualify for the Champions League.
The Spurs started off the season on a high and at one point, the team was even contesting to win the Premier League title.
However, following a dip in form in 2012, the team is currently sitting in the fifth spot in the league table, having won only two games from the last nine matches that the team has played.
As a result, the team seems highly unlikely to break into the top four and secure a Champions League spot for themselves this time around.
To make matters worse, if http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 win the Champions League, finishing in the fourth spot wouldn’t ensure Champions league football to the team, since the Blues would be the fourth English team in the competition, irrelevant of where they finish.
Some of the bigger names in the Spurs squad have been linked with moves away from the club, in search of Champions League football.
Redknapp seems to think that his players won’t be leaving the club, even if they don’t qualify for the European contest.
The manager is basing his logic around the fact that the players joined the club when it wasn’t in the Champions League, so they wouldn’t leave to play European football.
He is quoted to have said: “When they came to the club, Tottenham weren't in the Champions League, and were nowhere near getting in the Champions League"
"They play for Tottenham. They're at a great club. There's no reason they should want to leave. If we don't make it this year, we'll try again next year. There's not too many clubs they could go to better than Tottenham.”
"http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 have both signed long-term contracts. Gareth has had a fantastic time for a young player at Tottenham. He needs to stay a few more years yet and keep developing.”
Despite these claims from Redknapp, it is going to be down to the players to decide whether they want to leave or not and if some of the elite European clubs come knocking, they might end up leaving the White Hart Lane.
