Tottenham Hotspur’s manager, Harry Redknapp believes that the referee guessed over Juan Mata’s goal in the game and feels that the goal saw his team lose all hope in the game, which ultimately resulted in them losing the game.
The North London club seemed to be looking to go all out against Chelsea, but an early Drogba goal saw the team get pushed right back.
Later on, Juan Mata took a shot at goal and despite it appearing like the ball never crossed the line, the referee went on to award http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 with a goal.
It was rather unclear why the referee thought it was a goal, but as a result of that goal, Chelsea went on to grow in confidence and then won the match by five goals to one.
When talking about the game and Mata’s goal, Redknapp is quoted to have said: “He must have [guessed]. I don’t think you can be sure, he’s just made a mistake unfortunately.”
“The second goal was a disaster, it was nowhere near a goal. He’s made a big mistake, he hasn’t done it on purpose.”
“I don’t see how he can give the goal, it’s nowhere near over the line. There were bodies lying on the line, there’s no way the ball can go anywhere near over the line.”
“There’s nothing we can do about it now. You need goal-line technology surely, we can’t keep going like we’re going at the moment with important decisions not being correct.”
Despite his team losing by four goals, Redknapp believes that the goal was the turning point in the match and ended up determining the course of the game.
Redknapp strongly believes that his side were harshly treated in the game and hopes that some actions will be taken against the referee’s decision.
Nonetheless, the Tottenham boss now needs to get his team to focus on their remaining Premier League games, since they still possess a chance of falling out of the top four and even out of the top six.
Should that happen, Tottenham would end up going into the coming season, without a European spot.
