Despite dominating the match against Manchester United, Harry Redknapp’s Tottenham succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the defending champions in the Premier League courtesy of two goals by Ashley Young and a single header
by Rooney...
Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson’s men produced another one of their lacklustre away performances in the English Premier League but got away with all three points in the end due to his clinical finishing touch in front of the Tottenham goal.
Manchester United were totally dominated and outplayed by Tottenham in the first half of their encounter at the White Hart Lane stadium but the Red Devils managed to sneak into the lead with Wayne Rooney’s header from a corner
kick just before the half time whistle. It was Rooney who evaded the attention of his marker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brad-Friedel-c7953 no chance in the Tottenham goal.
In the second half, Tottenham continued their dominance in the early stages but United hit on the counter attack with another goal, this time through Ashley Young. A few minutes later in the second half, Young got his second goal
of the match as he curled a beautiful shot past Friedel to make a win certain for Manchester United. Near the end of the encounter, Harry Redknapp’s men scored a consolation goal via Defoe as the match ended 3-1 in favour of Manchester United.
Harry Redknapp said in his post-match comments, "I thought we were outstanding, how we came in 1-0 down at half-time, I couldn't believe it, it was soul destroying. First half we made them look ordinary. Livermore and Sandro did
everything I asked them to do, they pressed Scholes and Carrick, got in amongst them, we stopped them playing balls into Rooney and we dominated them.”
He added that Tottenham’s players did all that they were asked to do and that the result was particularly unlucky to them. United now prepare to face Athletic Bilbao in mid-week in the Europa League as they are now closer to Manchester
City in the title race with just two points in between the two teams.
