Reds Quade Cooper confronts Dan Carter at No 10 position in their upcoming clash in Brisbane - Rugby
The Queensland Reds’ first five, Quade Cooper, has called out Crusaders’ Dan Carter to play a one on one for the Number 10 position in their forthcoming match of Super Rugby on May 29. Both the star players are known for being the best at their positions
and their role in crucial games cannot be denied. The upcoming match-up is expected to be a great test of their abilities as record crowd of more than 40,000 people are expected to watch the action live in Brisbane.
Dan Carter, who made his Super Rugby debut in 2001, for the Crusaders, has an almost sublime presence on the field. He is also one of the most expensive All Blacks player and has recently renewed his contract with New Zealand Rugby Union, which blessed him
with a highly flexible deal.
He has participated in 89 games for the Crusaders and has scored 1194 points including 27 tries for his squad. He has an excellent record for scoring the most points by an individual in one season of Super Rugby with 221 in 2006.
Reds’ star player, Quade Cooper, has emerged as an outstanding contributor at number 10 for his side. Cooper has played 48 matches of Super Rugby for his side and scored 208 points for the Reds.
The Reds Coach, Ewen McKenzie, is also aware of the importance of the two players and said their role will be the key to who wins the match. He argued that, "I've got no doubt the performance of the two 10s will be critical in the game. In my mind he's been
a brilliant No.10. Dan Carter is very influential and a very cool customer under pressure so he'll be very important imposing their game."
Reds halfback, Will Genia, is also curious to watch the battle between Cooper and Carter and said, "Carter has been around for a long time and he's been so good for so long and you can't not say he's the No.1 in the world. But as far as skill level and ability,
I think they match each other and that's why it will make for a very good contest."
The Reds will take on the Crusaders on May 29, in the 14th round of Super Rugby.
