All the speculations related to Joe Allen’s possible future destination were finally put to the bed, as Liverpool claimed the midfielder’s signature from Swansea City on Friday.

The Welsh footballer was on Brendan Rodgers radar for quite some time, given his impressive spell under the Northern Irishman last season at the Liberty Stadium.
Following his switch to Anfield in June, Rodgers has set out on the task of developing a Swansea like playing style at the Merseyside club. In the last couple of weeks, he stepped up his pursuit for the 22-year old.
Despite seeing their earlier overtures get rebuffed by the Welsh outfit, the Reds finally managed to claim the services of the midfielder on Friday. According to reports, his move has cost the club 15 million pounds in transfer fee.
In addition, Liverpool will also pay Allen 2 million pounds as a signing-on-fee and he is expected to get a salary of close to 45,000 pounds per week – almost three times of what he was getting at the Liberty Stadium.

When reached by the reporters, following the completion of his agreement with the Reds, Allen commented that he was delighted on becoming a part of a team of Liverpool’s stature, and was looking forward towards the exciting times ahead.
He said, “I feel incredible. Everyone knows the history of this club, it's a massive club, and I'm delighted to have joined. The passion that people here have for football is something I share and I want to be part of that.”

The midfielder, who started his career at the Swansea youth academy, made 147 appearances for the Swans and netted 7 goals.
