Reds kill the Cheetahs with 41-8 dazzle – Super Rugby match report
Beau Robinson, who is actually the Queensland’s cheapest player, surprised the Cheetahs with his game play, as the stunning Reds guaranteed that the Cheetahs struck the ground with a deafening thud today.
In a Super Rugby affair today, Reds thrashed the Cheetahs with a 41-8 dazzling shock.
The Cheetahs were already pretty inconsistent throughout the tour so far gave Reds a comfortable victory with some blunders and obvious gaps. Cheetahs had earlier given a 23-3 upset to New South Wales Waratahs last week in Sydney, but today they couldn’t
make a difference. Other than the scrum, Cheetahs had to face huge problems in all aspects of the game.
Reds took the domination from the very first minute and the possession was looking to be a certain authority for the Reds. They scored a total of six tries and bombarded the Cheetahs defense, leaving them with nothing but shock. Though, four of the six tries
were due to the blunders from Cheetahs, as they dropped the ball and left the touchline exposed to the Reds attack numerous times.
Reds were already enjoying the benefit of bonus point before the interval and were all over the ground with the ball, pretty dangerously. Cheetahs’ scoring was opened by Sias Eberson, the fly half, who scored a 14th minute penalty. Reds took the control
back from there and winger Rod Davies and Digy Ioane scored two tries each, while Saia Faingaa the hooker score one try in the first half.
Quade Cooper, the Reds fly half supported the efforts made by wingers and scored three conversions. Reds were at a lead of 29-3 at halftime, after the penalty from Quade Cooper.
Ewen McKenzie, the coach for Reds was very glad to see Robinson back in form and good shape. He looked past massive win and his star studded back and praised the reborn Robinson for such a good performance.
He said, “I thought he was outstanding. That's why he is there. He fought hard for that (No.7) spot. He's got it and he's shown why and that's what you want. You want your guys to step up.”
Robinson with a helping hand of his team mates on the forward to take Reds to a bombarding first half, which shook the foundations of Cheetahs defense. James Horwill believes that its his time to shine, as the 24 year old has worked hard and has been patient
and consistent around the pitch.
He said, “It's great to see the reward he's getting now. Everyone saw the effort he put in the off-season and the long hours he was putting in on the field and then going to work.”
This was Reds record seventh victory at home and they took it with a huge difference, giving them the title of the most cunning side of the tournament. And top of it, this win has cemented them as the top Australian side with 22 points under their belt.
Reds are at a lead of 8 points from Waratahs, meanwhile the Cheetahs are struggling at the bottom squad to avoid Wooden Spoon in any case.
