Reds looking to build up defence for semi-final clash against Blues - Super Rugby news
The Australian derby, Queensland Reds, is committed to enhancing its rock solid defence against the Blues, in their scheduled Super Rugby semi-final clash, on July 2.
The Reds are well aware of Blues forward pack, which has got one of the best attacks among the other Super Rugby derbies. The Reds player, Anthony Faingaa, urged his side to play their normal game against the Blues in Brisbane.
Talking to reporters on June 27, Anthony Faingaa said that Reds are at their best and they will try to keep the winning tempo going in the semi-final contest. The Reds have displayed wonderful performances in the entire season of Super Rugby and ended up
on top of the points tables after the round matches.
The 24-year-old Faingaa told the media that if the Reds are able to maintain their back lines they can win the match easily. He added that, “It's about us. If we can get our structure right and do everything right that we can, no one can break us. We let
them back into that game and we won't be doing that again. I think when you get far ahead on the scoreboard, you rest up a bit and we did that then.”
The former Queensland Reds player, John Connolly, also believes that the derby is capable of making their place in the final of the ongoing Super Rugby 2011. Connolly, who has also coached the Reds in 1996, said that the present side of the Reds has plenty
of good players who can surely lead the team through to the final of Super Rugby. He pointed at Will Genia and Quade Cooper who are in a good nick currently.
He further stated that, “I think Queensland have such a decisive advantage at nine and 10, as it was a month ago, and it will probably be too much for Auckland to overcome.”
The Queensland Reds will take on the New Zealand derby Blues on July 2, in Brisbane in the second semi-final of Super Rugby 2011.
