The principal owner of Liverpool, John Henry, has admitted that the FSG had made mistakes over the last two years, but vowed not to repeat them in future.
The American-based Fenway Sports Group took over the reins of the Merseyside club at a time when they were in a financial quagmire. The situation of the club’s exchequer went into shambles under the previous owners, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tom-c35214 Hicks and George Gillett, with the
Reds at one stage even ran into the risk of going bankrupt.
Since the FSG took over, they seem to have stemmed the tide. However, despite splashing the cash to reinvigorate the deplorable situation at Anfield, they have still failed to meet their desired goals and objectives – especially in the league.
The owners went on to spend close to 100 million pounds over the last two years, in order to claim the services of Andy Carroll, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Henderson-c19102 and Charlie Adam.
Nonetheless, despite stretching their financial budget to the limit, the Anfield outfit finished at a paltry eighth position last season, posing question marks over the wisdom of the club’s policy makers over their decision of going over the top for untested
players.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 supremo confessed to have made mistakes during his tenure. However, he insisted that the Reds were now in a much better position than they were two years ago, and were heading in the right direction under the supervision of Brendan Rodgers.
“We are still in the process of reversing the errors of previous regimes. It will not happen overnight. It has been compounded by our own
mistakes in a difficult first two years of ownership,” he told the reporters.
“It has been a harsh education, but make no mistake, the club is healthier today than when we took over. We will build and grow from within, buy prudently and cleverly and never again waste resources on inflated transfer fees and unrealistic wages.”
Henry then went on to back Rodgers – as the Northern Irishman is currently under heavy criticism for failing to bring in Carroll’s replacement, and expressed his confidence over the playing style that he was trying to establish at Anfield.
