Redshirts sweep the Redlands East Valley boys volleyball team on Tuesday
Tuesday proved yet again why the home court favours its home team. The host, who was the Redlands boys' volleyball team was able to defeat their all time rivals, the Redlands East Valley.
Not only were the Redlands able to win the competition with its all time rivals by handing out defeat to REV in three back to back sets, they were able to assert themselves by winning all three sets in a smothering fashion.
By the time that the Redlands were done-which took them less than an hour- the score board proclaimed their victory by displaying the following set scores: 25-16, 25-15, 25-15.
The recent win has improved the overall season statistics of the Redlands to a total number of three victories. They have been able to reach this number after having suffered losses that equal the same amount.
On the other hand, the Citrus Belt League record of the Redlands is a bit less impressive. They have been handed out more defeats than the victories the Redlands have grabbed so far. The wins that the Redlands have made in the CBT amount to two. In comparison,
their losses have tallied at a figure of three.
If the overall season statistics of the REV is looked at, it shows a dismal performance put up by the stressed team. The number of defeats that REV has suffered in this season so far equal to the figure of ten. This fact is made more disappointing after
considering that these losses have been undergone while winning no match at all.
Similarly, the CBL record shows no victories but a sad amount of five defeats so far.
As soon as the first set of the game started, the Redlands came out strong over REV. The Redshirts did not give their rivals any room to add an easy point to the scoreboard. The pressure was kept on REV by the Redshirts as they took a lead early in the set
and were able to extend it later in the game by bringing the scoreboard to 22-12.
Despite the fact that the Redshirts made a few errors that gave away three points to REV, they were still able to bag the first set of the game at 25-16.
Cashing in on the momentum that the Redshirts had built by winning the first set of the game, they were able to take the lead early on in the second set as well. They were able to keep the advantage to themselves during the middle of the game at 14-6.
Eventually, the Redshirts won the second set of the game at 25-15.
The third set of the game saw REV take the lead at 14-12. However, they were unable to maintain their dominance in the end as the Redshirts took the third set away at 25-15.
Next in line for the Redshirts is a match against Yucaipa scheduled to be played on Thursday.
