Redskins' defensive tackle Barry Cofield calls for making significant changes – NFL News
Washington Redskins’ defensive tackle Barry Cofield is frustrated with the performance of his team that has adopted a habit of losing games, and wants his side to improve game-play.
He has urged his teammates to bring significant changes in their game saying that if it is not improved, the team would keep on losing the future matches.
Redskins were defeated by Miami Dolphins 20-9 at the Sun Life Stadium last week. The loss stretched the losing streak to five.
Cofield has suggested that the team should improve its performance and warned that its winless streak could extend further if the lethargic display continues. He hoped that the players would keep their focus on the game and said
that they should do everything to make sure that the team gets on the winning road.
“There's no guarantee that we can win another game," Cofield said. "We just don't have a team on our schedule that's just going to lay down and let us beat 'em. If we don't play better, then there's no reason to expect to win any
games. The ball's just not going to bounce our way, and so it could get very ugly. It could get historically ugly.
"Hopefully guys are fearful of that, and hopefully guys focus in and just come together and do whatever it takes to get a win -- because if we don't, then it's going to be a very very long winter."
Redskins have failed to impress this season. Out of the nine games played, they have only won three. Their six defeats have pushed them down the bottom of the National Football Conference East division.
Cofield joined the National Football League in 2006 when he was picked up by New York Giants. He signed a six-year deal with Redskins in July, 2011 and has 15 tackles and two sacks in the nine games he has played this season.
He was of the view that there was no new recipe for victory and said that personal accountability could earn them victory. Until everyone checks their footsteps, the result is not going to change, he added.
Redskins will face Dallas Cowboys in their next game.
