Redskins’ coach Mike Shanahan keeps cornerback DeAngelo Hall on active roster – NFL News
Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan is not giving up on his cornerback DeAngelo Hall and said on Monday that he is looking for the same type of people as Hall on his active roster.
Following the loss in the week-11 encounter against Dallas Cowboys 27-24 at the FedEx Field, Hall was taken over by disappointment and gloomily he had called for axing himself from the team saying that his game-play was substandard.
The 28-year-old cornerback joined in the league after being selected by Atlanta Falcons in the 2004 NFL Draft. Hall was traded to Oakland Raiders in March 2008. Later, he was released by the franchise and he joined Redskins in November 2008.
Hall is playing his fourth season for Redskins. This season, he has started all the games and managed 64 tackles and one interception. During the game against Cowboys, he recorded 11 tackles and was certainly displeased with the stats.
“The way I'm playing right now, they need to go and cut me, because I'm definitely not worth what I'm getting," Hall said after the defeat. "It's frustrating.”
However, Coach Mike Shanahan is unmoved by the Hall’s demands and in fact praised him for the critical evaluation he did on his performance. He appreciated Hall and all the other players who thought the same way and said that such attitude keeps the players going and provides them a chance to get better.
"You want players that play with the mindset of perfection," Shanahan said after Hall’s remarks. "When you do give up the play, regardless of what the play is, you want to take it very personal.
"If you don't have that type of mindset, and you say 'Hey, it's just another play,' then you're not made of the right stuff," the coach added.
Redskins have played 10 games this season and managed to win only three of them. With seven defeats under their belt and an average of 312.7 yards (228.7 passing yards and 84.0 rushing yards) per game, they are placed at the bottom of the National Football Conference East division. They will take on Seattle Seahawks in the week 12 game of the National Football League current season.
