Redskins’ general manager Bruce Allen impressed by performance of young players – NFL News
Washington Redskins are not having an ideal time. They have lost seven games and won only three in the current season of the National Football League. Despite the poor stats, Redskins’ general manager Bruce Allen is impressed with
a few of his young players and hoped that the team would get back to the winning ways pretty soon.
Talking to reporters at the FedEx Field on Tuesday, Allen said that the players are learning from their mistakes and that they are committed to improve the records.
“No one wants a 3-7 record, but when you see the core of the team and the heart of the team, we have a lot of players improving and a lot of young guys getting better,” Allen said on Tuesday. “We’re learning from this experience
and the resolve is still there. We want to bring back the burgundy and gold to the top ranks of the NFL.”
Redskins lost their week 11 encounter against Dallas Cowboys in the overtime 27-24. They came close to the victory, but could not finish the game as winners. They are going to take on Seattle Seahawks in the week 12 encounter.
Allen thinks that his team can end its six-game losing streak on Sunday.
“I see an opportunity to win this week,” he said. “We had an opportunity to win last week and we didn’t close it out. This week we have to do that.”
Redskins have provided an opportunity to some young players including wide receiver Leonard Hankerson, running back Roy Helu, safety DeJon Gomes and guard Maurice Hurt to make start for the franchise this season. The general manager
is sensing good days in the offing by relying on such a young talent to take up the responsibility and bring cherishing moments for the fans.
When asked about the performance of the coach Mike Shanahan and his stance on the current losing streak, Allen said that the coach is focused on the game against Seahawks. He informed that the coach also had a meeting with the
rest of the team members and said that if the good performance like last week’s is repeated on this weekend, Redskins have a strong chance of winning the game.
