Younger drivers don't make better drivers. Why are we even considering lowering the age. The kids need to practice more. So let them wait until they are older than 16 if they don't get in their driver times by their birthday.

  1. oh h**l no! we need to RAISE the age to 17! but 14?! are they serious?!  as the first answerer said, driving is a privelidge! KIDS are no where near ready to drive at 14. thats just dumb...... sorry about the rant...

  2. 16 is good i think if they raise it to 17 that's just insane... in NJ theres been talk to raising when u get ur license until 18 i think that's ridicules but hey ill be 18 soon so i could care less i can drive already

  3. older than 16 is rediculous. I think 15 1/2 is perfect. It gives a chance to start early and get to school activities without parents complaining.

  4. Wait till they are at least 18 years of age.

Among licensed drivers, young people between the ages of 15 and 20 have the highest rate of fatal crashes relative to other age groups, including the elderly. In fact, the risk of being involved in a fatal crash for teens is three times greater than for drivers age 65 to 69.

Immaturity and lack of driving experience are the two main factors leading to the high crash rate among teens.

  5. I agree. 14 years old is too young for someone holding a permit or license. 16 is young enough, I say 17 years old would be perfect. Driving is a privilege, 14 is too young.

  6. In Kentucky we get our permit at 16 and our unrestricted license at 17. i think thats a little too old if you ask me. We are basically graduated by the time we get a car
