Question:

Reem Acra Wedding Gown: Ivory or White?

by  |  earlier

I am ordering the Reem Acra wedding gown "the Winner." I tried it on in ivory (which looks white to me). But I am worried if I should order it in white instead. Does anyone have this gown or others by Reem Acra?

Thank you!

  1. personally, i would choose the white, because, other people are going to be wearing white blouses and compared to that, your dress might look yellowish. white is always classic. I think it will look brighter, as well.

and, they are not going to make a wedding dress see-through. how tasteless would that be? and ivory can get stained just as easily. there is always dry-cleaning. you're probably only going to be wearing it for a little while anyways.

maybe you should have a friend take a polaroid of you in each and see what you think looks better. but I would be safe and go with the white, because compared to other things, it will look yellowish. because most guys usually just wear a white blouse with black slacks so their shirts will look brighter than your dress.

  2. i think white can go bad like see through in the skin and stains very easily so i would go with iverory

  3. congrats btw on your big day.. and no i don't have it nor have i seen it but would love to i enjoy looking at wedding gowns.. i think if your looking for something more suttle id go with the ivory especially because if you think it still looks white then it hasn't given you the boring effect ivory could give a person.. so i wouldn't go with the white unless you want something really bright and that stands out because pure white stands out so much compared to off white so if your looking for the purified virgin mary wedding dress theme then go for the white or you can always go for ivory that's what color I'm also leaning towards .. if i were you id go to a retail store and try on a pure white dress so you can see if your wanting something even close to that intensity... good luck sweetheart

  4. There are shades of white.  Most bridal gowns come in white, diamond white, ivory, & champagne.  White is pure, snow white.  Diamond white is between pure snow white and ivory (off white).  Champagne is a little darker than ivory, almost a brownish white.  There is also a color called blush which is kind of a pinkish white.

One way to tell the undertone of the dress or it's true color is to put a pure snow white one next to it.  So go back and try on the ivory one again and hold up to it a pure snow white gown.  You will be able to see the difference and better able to decide. Or go to the fabric store and buy a small piece of bridal satin fabric in pure snow white and use that as your basis for comparison.

The shop should also have fabric swatches that you can look at! Remember, ivory is more flattering for most people skin tones. Pure snow white can be harsh looking. Good Luck!
