Ref i tunes back up to external hard drive?

Question

trying to back up i tunes library to external hard drive but message saying i dont have permission contact administrator.i am the administrator,can anybody help cheers.

Easy way: create a folder in the external drive and back up your music to there.

Trickier way: take ownership of the external hard drive at root level.

I'll bet that you're not actually logged to the account named "administrator", though.  That's what it means - you need *full* admin privileges.

Make sure itunes is not open.  Reboot and try and backup again.  You can also check the permissions of that file by right clicking on the folder you are trying to backup, click properties, then security tab and make sure administrator, or whoever you are logged in as has full control.
