Referee Roberto Ramirez wants proper apology from Juan Manuel Lopez – Boxing News
After his defeat to Orlando Salido, Puerto Rican Juan Manuel Lopez blamed referee Roberto Ramirez for being unjust towards him. Even though Lopez, along with Vice President of PR Best Boxing, apologised to Ramirez later through an email, the latter is still
not at ease. Ramirez now wants Lopez to send in an official apology  for the damage that has been caused to his rapport by the boxer’s claims.
After the bout against Salido, Juan Manuel Lopez lashed out on the referee in an interview with Showtime, saying that in the first fight Ramirez's son stopped the fight and now he stopped it and that he and his son are two gamblers. He further added that
they are betting with some people from the town where he lives and they are two gamblers and the Commission knows of. He said that he told the commission that he was a gambler and it is very irresponsible for the commission to put him as a referee knowing
he has a gambling problem.
As of now, Ramirez says he does not want to sue Juanma over the incident, instead he simply wants him to apologise on a global platform. He further said that he wants the apology to be of the same level as were the accusations. Not only Juanma, even Peter
Rivera has hurt Ramirez reputation. According to Ramirez, he received a phone call from Peter Rivera. Ramirez revealed, “He told me that the company supported me and that the decision [to stop the fight] had been well taken. He issued a press release apologizing
giving the impression that it was Juanma who wrote it…I said that’s what you wrote and he admitted it. I’m not happy. I’ve been called corrupt and a gambler and now I receive an apology that has no value.”
Ramirez further revealed that Rivera is planning to meet Juan on Monday. Rivera is planning to arrange a media tour so that Juan Manuel Lopez can apologise to Ramirez and his son in front of the whole world. For now, Ramirez is not happy with Juan’s apology
and he wants it to be on a larger scale.
