Referee Seminar in Slovakia turns out to be a huge success – Volleyball news
The 2011 European Referee Seminar was held in Slovakia this past weekend.
The city of Dunajska Streda welcomed 60 volleyball referees from 38 different countries of the world. Moreover, the members of International Volleyball Federation and European Refereeing Commission (ERC) showed up on the scene and delivered speeches.
The Slovakian Volleyball Federation played an instrumental role in organising this activity Slovakia, which turned out to be huge success. The Seminar for Volleyball referees is usually organised after every two years and this time it graced Slovakia to
host the activity. The seminar offered great learning facility to the participants and also involved an innovative evaluation of the system.
The Referee Seminar in Slovakia was supervised by the President of European Refereeing Commission, Dr. Rek. He addressed the participants and gave out different presentations to let them know about the latest happenings in the field. Dr. Rek appreciated
the development work done by Slovak Volleyball Federation.
He credited the president of federation and other officials, who were involved in putting efforts to organise this seminar for referees.
He shared his thoughts in the following manner, “The preparation of this seminar was extremely demanding especially as we decided to get quite many contributions from a wide panel of lecturers in order to analyze and discuss the status and role of Volleyball
referees in modern times from different perspectives. I would also like to thank the local organizers who did not simply assist us, but even joined us after the seminar so that we could get good knowledge of your national competitions and many activities.”
A renowned native sports psychologist, Tomas Gursky was one of the prominent participants of the refereeing seminar. Gursky had spent long years serving the sport of Volleyball. He shared his knowledge of the game with rest of the participants of the seminar.
ERC Secretary Professor Fred Kröger was another important entity of the seminar. He addressed the referees and taught them about the leadership activities. He focused on improving their decision making power within short span of time during the ongoing games.
The former national player for Czechoslovakia, Dr. Igor Prieložný, also joined the seminar. He was equipped with a wealth of experience as he had spent several years coaching different clubs and national teams. He also took part in the discussion and shared
his experience with the aspiring young referees of the seminar. Overall, it was a successful project and it will surely help out the referees in upcoming events.
