Refereeing Seminar in Tunisia ends – Volleyball news
The Confederation African de Volleyball (CAVB) in collaboration with International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) organised seminar on Refereeing in Tunisia.
The Refereeing Seminar completed its run from April 16-18 in Tunisian City Tunis and proved to be a huge success. The seminar served the sole purpose of helping the referees to improve their performance on the volleyball court.
More than 100 referees from 14 African countries participated in the Seminar and made it a thriving venture of African Volleyball Federation. Referees from Rwanda, Senegal, Algeria, Benin, Botswana, Cameroon, Congo, Egypt, Kenya, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria,
Sudan and host Tunisia showed up at the seminar and took part in different interactive sessions.
Most of the attendees of the seminar were men but six female referees were also in presence. The CAVB Referee Commission welcomed the participants and held a meeting before the seminar.
The participant of the seminar discussed the importance of female and beach volleyball referees. The attendees were given briefing on the various development works and projects of CAVB. Many different aspects of the game were brought under discussion.
The CAVB President Dr Amr Elwani and top official officials of the African Volleyball Federation attended the closing ceremony of the seminar on Wednesday. Dr Amr Elwani delivered a speech and highlighted the on-going development activities of the Federation.
He stated, “We are going step by step to improve one of the cornerstones of the game which was reflected by the increased number of referees appointed during the FIVB World championships. Our aim also is to improve the level of the local African competitions
because strong leagues bring up better referees.
 The seminar director Hassan Ahmed also had his say and gave his feedback on the event. He commented, “The participants really did well in their presentations reflecting their characters. We had also a questionnaire at the end of the seminar to evaluate
the top level of our referees.”
In the some of the renowned referee were awarded with different accolades for their remarkable achievements.
The local and international media personnel covered the Refereeing Course, while Tunisia TV live broadcasted some of the session of the seminar.
