So one former boss had told me two months ago that I can come to her for a reference. I also had another boss last year that told me that she would be able to provide reference letters if i need them. so in my reference letter request to them, should I be assuming that the offers still stand? How should I phrase the reference letter requests? Usually i phrase them "I was wondering if you would be comfortable with being listed as a reference in my job applications" etc. However, i also feel that it sounds presumptuous of me to say "I wanted to let you know I'm applying to Company X and have listed you as a reference". Is there a good way to phrase a request letter in my situation?
