Question:

References for first job?

I'm making my first resume, and I'm not sure who to use as a reference considering I've never had a job before. My mom says I can give a couple of her friends' numbers, I'm wondering if that would be ok?

Also, how many references should I have?

Aaaand, one more thing, references go on a separate page as the resume itself, right? We learned this in class last year but it totally left my memory. Thanks in advance.

  1. It's fine to list a couple of friends as character references.  Be sure and get their permission first.

Keep your resume to one page, especially since you don't have any prior job experience.

If you were an Eagle Scout, did any volunteer work, or anything along those lines, include that in your resume under experience.

The link at jobstar may be of help, especially with doing your resume.

Good luck.  The first job is usually the hardest to get.  Keep looking, you will get one.  Don't get discouraged.
