Refinery 29 includes Brian Kachinsky in 'Hottest 30 Under 30 list'
BMX pro rider, Brian Kachinsky, has managed to land a spot on Refinery 29’s Hottest 30 Under 30 list.
The Chicago-based website, which primarily focuses on fashion, beauty and style, released the list in order to acknowledge the rising stars that have been making big waves in Chicago Proper.
The 29-year-old Kachinsky, who is originally from Appleton, Wisconsin, but has been calling Chicago his home for several years now, is the only action sports athlete to have found a spot on the list. He felt really honoured over finding his name in the list.
Remaining modest, he said that Refinery 29 probably wanted to have a BMX rider in the list for a change. However, the fact remained that he was one of the 30 people who had been selected and named as the most prominent rising stars in Chicago Proper.
Talking about his inclusion in the list, Kachinsky said, “There was a wide variety of people on that list from artists to photographers to pro soccer players. I would have put fellow Chicago BMX pro Kevin Porter on the list for sure.”
Feeling a little amused over being referred to as one of the hottest 30 under 30, Kachinsky said,, "It's hard to feel hot in temperatures below freezing. Not to mention my Midwest skin hasn't seen the sun in a month or two."
Indeed there was a high variety of people for Refinery to choose from. Those that eventually made it to the final list included people from all professional. The list included entrepreneurs, DJ, comedian, artists, football player, public relations director,
photographers and many others who had been making an impact in Chicago one way or another.
According to Refinery 29, the talented BMX rider is a part of the new wave of up-and-coming stars that are making big waves in the city. His name in the list is accompanied with a mention of his hectic schedule, which involves travelling to different part
of the world for the BMX contests, as well as his bronze-medal accomplishment in BMX Street discipline at last year’s X Games in Los Angeles.
Though the 29-year-old BMX pro was seen travelling the world because of participation in competitions, he has recently started staying at home for a relatively longer period of time. The credit goes to the new and exclusive indoor practice space that he’s
built, The Bakery, where he spends a lot of time to entertain out-of-town BMX pros. The riding facility is located on Chicago’s Southside in a former baking factory.
Kachinsky plans to resume his travelling for the 2011 season starting in May. Within the next few weeks, he will be heading off to England, China, Puerto Rico and Netherlands to participate in the events there. The 29-year-old pro is also currently busy
in filming a web video for the entries site.
