How long do you have to wait before walking on refinished wood floors? I've heard 3 to 4 weeks....and I've also heard 24 hours.

  1. Also... NO area rugs for a minimum of 2 months.

  2. You should be able to walk on them after 24 hours, move furniture within 3-4 days and "PLACE" them where they belong.

  3. Is this room air conditioned all the time?If it is, then I would go for 48-72 hours.Area rugs 2 weeks. No A/C , double everything.

  4. A man is redoing my floors. He said that after the floors are completely done* After 24 hours* we can walk on it. But not to move furniture on it or anything like that for 6 to 7 days. I guess it depends on what kind of finish he puts on, and even what state you're in, if it takes longer to dry or not.

  5. You can walk on your newly refinished floors in 24 hours. If in doubt feel them with your hand. If you encounter any stickiness (unlikely, unless you are dealing with extremely low temperatures or high humidity) do not walk any further. Oil based polyurethane can take 30 days to fully cure and will be more susceptible to scratching during this time.^
